Putting Together a Baseline for Your Budget

Budgeting is a practice that is difficult for many businesses and nonprofits, and unfortunately, it has a huge impact if that is something that you aren’t exceptionally skilled at. There are a lot of things that you can do, and if you want to make sure that you put together a well organized fundraiser program riverside, then you want to have an idea of what your monthly budget is for the organization. Let’s take a look at how you can make that happen.

As you start to look at everything, you want to determine exactly what is coming in and out of your organization on a regular basis. How much money is coming through the door, and where are those numbers even coming from in the first place? Having a handle on that and knowing that info can help you to build your budget. What is going on with the amount of money you bring in every month? Many of us know vague numbers, but we may not be totally sure as to what happens to our money as it comes in. By keeping track of it for a month, you can see that.

Then, you’ve got everything that you’re spending during the month. Yes, even if you’re just going to the store and getting some pens because you ran out of them for that event that you were throwing. Mark it all down, and then, at the end of a month’s time, you want to look and see what you’re spending your money on and if there are ways to adjust that. That is going to be the baseline for your budget and what you will use to put the rest of it all together and put together fundraising goals and the like.
